Scan and email a document

Capture one paper page with your phone and send it in an email — no fax app, no paid scanner.

You need one paper page in an email — a form, a receipt, a letter. Use the phone you already have. One page only. No fax app. No paid scanner subscription.

Do the steps for your phone. Skip the other.

iPhone (Notes → Mail)

  1. iPhone: Open Notes and start a new note.
  2. iPhone: Tap the attachment button (paperclip), then tap Scan Documents.
  3. iPhone: Point the camera at the page. When the yellow box fits, wait for the capture — or tap the shutter if it does not auto-scan.
  4. iPhone: Tap Keep Scan, then tap Save (one page is enough — skip adding more).
  5. iPhone: Tap the scan in the note, tap Share, then tap Mail.
  6. iPhone: Add the address, a short subject, and tap Send.

Android (Drive → Gmail)

  1. Android: Open the Google Drive app (install free from Play Store if you do not have it).
  2. Android: Tap the camera button (bottom right), or tap + and then Scan.
  3. Android: Point the camera at the page. Capture when the blue outline fits the page.
  4. Android: Tap Done, name the file if you want, choose PDF, then tap Save.
  5. Android: Open the saved file in Drive, tap Share (or the three dots → Share), then choose Gmail.
  6. Android: Add the address, a short subject, and tap Send.

If Share offers a link instead of an attachment, that is fine for most neighbors — the person you email can open the page from the link.

What this guide is not

Not a multi-page OCR class. Not fax apps. Not a paid scanner subscription pitch.

Done when

Someone else can open that one page from the email you sent — as a PDF attachment or a Drive link.
