Your phone’s text got hard to read. You don’t need a new phone — just turn the size up. These steps take a few minutes. Do the ones for your phone. Skip the other.
iPhone
- iPhone: Open Settings.
- iPhone: Tap Display & Brightness.
- iPhone: Tap Text Size.
- iPhone: Drag the slider right until a sample line looks comfortable.
- iPhone: Go back once. Open a Messages thread and check that it still fits how you read. If the slider isn’t enough:
- iPhone: Open Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Larger Text.
- iPhone: Turn on Larger Accessibility Sizes, then drag the slider until it’s right.
Android
Android menus vary a little by brand. Look for the same words even if the order differs.
- Android: Open Settings.
- Android: Tap Display (sometimes Display & brightness).
- Android: Tap Font size or Display size and text.
- Android: Drag Font size toward larger. Some phones also have Display size — try that if text still feels small.
- Android: Open Messages (or your usual text app) and check a real conversation.
What this guide is not
This is not a full accessibility setup, not a tablet walkthrough, and not a sales pitch for a bigger phone.
Done when
You can open a text message and read it without pinching or squinting — and you know where the size control lives if you want to nudge it again.
